Unraveling of Fringe & Lace Trim

This braided fringe on the bottom of this skirt unraveled and came apart during professional cleaning.

What Is The Problem?

Twisted fringe or braided and lace trim can unravel during professional cleaning.

What Does It Look Like?

When decorative lace or fringe trim unravels it appears stringy and/or frayed.

What Caused It?

Poorly anchored and improperly secured trim can be weakened and abraded from normal wear alone. The gentle agitation of later cleaning can aggravate the unraveling making the fraying more noticeable after care.

Can It Be Prevented?

The professional cleaner cannot predict or prevent such damage during normal acceptable cleaning processes. Only the manufacturer can prevent such damage to fringe and lace trim by better securing the material to make it more durable to expected conditions of wear and later cleaning.

Who Is Responsible?

If braided trims are properly constructed the cleaning process will not cause damage. The manufacturer is responsible to attach decorative trims to all end products that are completely durable to the later accepted cleaning process without damage.

Is There A Remedy?

There is no practical restoration, but in some cases the trim can be replaced.

The lace at the neckline of this dress has unraveled from use and care.
