Albano Cleaners was originally founded in Norfolk, Virginia in 1935 by, James Albano, Sr. Early on, Albano Cleaner’s business grew serving the surrounding areas and in the 40’s stepped up to support the United States in WWII by directly contracting with the US Navy to process Navy foul weather clothing and flight uniforms.
Albano Cleaners was the first plant in the US to develop this service of cleaning, waterproofing, repairing, and refinishing the foul weather and flight uniforms of our local military.
James Albano, Sr.
After WWII, the company continued to expand by opening multiple locations while developing its customer friendly services of pick-up and delivery routes, repairs and alterations, waterproofing, leather and fur cleaning, storage, and many other services.
My husband, James Albano, Jr. began working for his father at an early age learning the trade and how to take care of customers all the while continuing his education into college and mastering and graduating from the National Institute of FabriCare.
Upon his father’s retirement, my Jimmy took over the company in the 70’s and grew the company to over 40 locations locally and abroad. The company remains family owned and locally operated.
Albano Cleaner’s motto and goal has been and always will be… “We Keep You Looking Good” by providing quality care, fair pricing, and friendly customer service.

We are extremely proud of the “Albano Family” many of whom have been with us many years – even decades – taking great pride in the care and service given to each and every customer.
